first ICCWC Global Conference on Illegal Wildlife Trade. The event focused on building
strong cases and showcased major advances in international efforts to combat wildlife
crime.

The conference enabled cross-sectoral engagement. Law enforcement officials including
customs, police, and prosecutors met to strengthen collaboration across the entire
criminal justice chain. Centered on Operation Thunder (see page 19), the event facilitated
deep exchanges on operational challenges, joint investigations, and prosecution strategies
to improve the success of the operations in years to come.
This conference was also a critical platform for improving the sharing of data, intelligence
and expertise within Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America, strengthening inter-agency
and multi-regional collaboration.
