Institutionalised training and capacity are now part of the forensic system in these
countries, with ICCWC partners supporting wildlife colleges to integrate forensic science
into standard curricula, ensuring that future generations of officers are equipped with the
right skills from the outset. Portable laboratory services are extending access to forensic
analysis in countries that do not yet have their own dedicated facilities, ensuring no case
goes unexamined for lack of resources.
Much of this progress has been achieved through close collaboration with TRACE Wildlife
Forensics Network. Together, ICCWC and TRACE have delivered specialised training,
mentoring and technical support that have helped countries such as Uganda and Viet
Nam to establish and strengthen their own wildlife forensic laboratories.
