CYBERPATROLLING TO STRENGTHEN DETECTION
Cyberpatrolling has become a critical component of wildlife crime enforcement
operations, whereby authorities monitor online platforms, such as social media and other
websites, for illegal advertisements involving prohibited species.
With each iteration of Operation Thunder (see page 19, more participating countries have
adopted cyberpatrolling and cyber investigations as part of their national strategies,
resulting in a rise in the detection of cases linked to illicit online activities.
ICCWC partners support countries in issuing cyber alerts and developing these cases.
