ACHIEVEMENT #8
PUBLISHED THE 1ST EDITION
OF THE WORLD WILDLIFE
CRIME REPORT
First introduced in 2016, the World Wildlife Crime Reports (WWCRs)
take stock of the global wildlife crime situation with a focus on illicit
trafficking in wildlife. Three editions of the series have been
published to date, in 2016, 2020 and 2024, documenting illegal
trade in different countries. The reports have resulted from the
analysis of data compiled by the ICCWC partner organizations,
including data contained in the CITES Illegal Trade Database, which
has been used to inform activities and projects led by ICCWC.
SHAPING GLOBAL RESPONSES TO WILDLIFE CRIME
The WWCRs have become a cornerstone in the
global fight against wildlife trafficking. Produced
with ICCWC support, the reports provide the most
comprehensive overview of global wildlife crime
trends, integrating both quantitative data and
qualitative analysis. One of the WWCRs’ key
contributions is shedding light on the role of
transnational organized crime in wildlife trafficking,
helping to shape more informed enforcement and
policy responses globally.
The 2024 WWCR
was downloaded
