Following the WIRE Forum held in 2023, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
of China and Peru coordinated on a turtle trafficking case, involving 18,000 live
turtles and leading to a major prosecution in Peru.
Viet Nam and Nigeria also acted on ivory trafficking resulting from WIRE Forum
discussions in 2023, seizing 1.58 tonnes of ivory and arresting two key traffickers
in Nigeria.
In 2025, links built during the WIRE Forum held in 2024 enabled rhino horn
seizures across Africa and Asia. This chain of operational outcomes
demonstrates how dialogue at the WIRE can evolve into sustained cooperation
across regions and species.
