ICCWC works to develop practical tools designed to strengthen the quality of cases

investigators and prosecutors promote a consistent, methodical approach across
agencies, fostering close coordination among stakeholders.

An evaluation of the use of RRGs in Eastern Africa found that practitioners who use the tool
do so regularly, citing it as a way to simplify their work and strengthen case preparation.
In West and Central Africa, several countries have benefitted from the development of
RRGs and training in legislation, investigation methods, and judicial work. For instance, in
November 2023, ICCWC convened a training in Abidjan for wildlife crime investigators,
prosecutors and CITES focal points from seven West and Central African countries to
discuss ways to enhance cooperation and investigations. These trainings have helped
create knowledge and better links between the different countries.
